3.5 yr old eye test - what was I worried for?

DD had an eye test this morning. I was nervous as before my laser treatment I was myopic to the point of requiring a golden retriever. However, my fears for her were unfounded - she has perfect vision in one eye and ever so slightly long sighted in the other. (Long sight is normal in babies and young children apparently and reduces as they get older) She was as good as gold, and co-operated brilliantly. The optician was great with her - obviously used to testing children as he had various Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Pilet and Eeyores dotted around for her to spot.
She was most impressed with the two stickers he gave her!

Much better experience than my nightmare first eyetest with horrible school nurse!

Oh that's good news. Ds1 had one at a similar age (he kept screwing his eyes up as if he was struggling to see things). I had wondered how they would do it with a non-reader but it was all pictures - she had some Buzz Lightyears ones which he was most impressed by. His vision was 100% fine - the optician reckoned he just liked the effect he got from screwing his eyes up (and after the test he never did it again, lol ).

DD will sit millemetres away from the TV at times, which did concern me, but I think many children do this
