Friend's cervical polyp & colopscopy- info?

can anyone help me here?

my BF has a small polyp which has already been spotted by our excellent private gynae and he said nothing about it.

But she has now had an NHS smear and they have recalled her for a colops. based on the polyp.

Is this OTT or is it good practice?

Many years ago she had a couple of abnormal smears so I have said she's best go for the colops.

Is it likely to be painful if they remove it? I've had a hysteroscopy without a GA- which took 30 mins!- so I reckon it can be nothing like that- but will she need any hand holding?

I've seen colposcopy done and it's quite similar to hysteroscopy. Some hand holding may be required.

here from the excellent Patient UK website.

Thanks- I ve had a look a that.

I was wondering if anyone might report their own experiences because some posts on other websites say it is nothing, others say they had a lot of pain.
