mirena coil has overstayed.....

Oh dear. Whilst sorting out my very organised filing system (drawer full of assorted bits of paper), I have found my Mirena patient reminder card.

It says "latest date for removal 05/06/11." Mirena is still...erm...in situ and as far as I'm aware, is still working. I'm not pg anyway.
I'll phone surgery for appointment in the morning, but wondered if anyone here knew anything about it. Should I be worried?

I've had mine for about 9 years and as far as I'm comcerned, it's still working, I'm not having periods. I did get a call from my surgery but as it's fine, I see no need to change it.

OTOH, my sex drive has diminished recently, but that could be my age; nearly 50.

9 years?! Well I guess 7 months probably won't matter then, if yours has been ok for 4 extra years! I still feel just the same, no periods or anything, but I think I'll get it replaced anyway . Providing they're happy enough to let me have another one of course - am only a kick in the arse off 50 myself.
