Im currently overdue with my second DC and yesterday my OH announced that he had a booked a surprise trip to CenterParcs in March for us all. By the time we go baby will be approx 9 weeks (Im to be induced this Friday).

For the life of me I cant remember after what jags the HV advises it to be 'safe' to take baby swimming. Baby should have had its 8 week jags when when we go. Is it a really big deal that baby doesnt go in a public pool that early or are HCP just being precautionary?

When at the pool one of us will be sitting in the edge with baby while the other is off entertaining DD (3y) and its off season so pool will be rather quiet as well.

Thanks

No jabs needed in our local pool either (I am in France), just have to wait until baby is 6 weeks plus.

Babies don't need to be vaccinated before swimming.

There's nothing in a public pool that they are likely to 'catch' that they would be vaccinated against anyway (no more than any other public place IYKWIM).

Baby is more at risk of cold from the water than vaccine preventable disease!

Our local pool does a special baby hour where they keep the water at a higer temperature, so it's worth asking if there is something similar around you.

the old polio drops used to be an issue but now it is given in a vaccine it isnt a problem and you can take them swimming whenever you want
