I was given this by the doctor yesterday due to a major burning pain in my stomach. it seems to have helped a bit but still have a burning pain. I've taken 2 pills so far but i am still in a lot of pain and am findnig it hard to look after my 2 children.

Does anyone know how long before these tablets really kick in as i am not sure how long i can cope with this pain?

also can you take paracetamol with them?

thanks for any advice, i'm in alot of pain!

I take these for the same problem. Take some paracetamol for the pain now then you must make sure you take the stomach tablets as directed every morning so they are effective at reducing stomach acid. Once the inflammation has subsided, the lansaprazole will help keep the pain at bay.

I find if I miss taking them, the pain gradually comes back. Obviously if the pain relief and stomach tablets don't work, you will need to go back to the doctors. If it gets really bad, I would call out an emergency dr or even an ambulance.

Good luck!

Thanks. Spoke to doc and he said to double my dose and take paracetamol. So will see how that goes. So bored of this.

It takes more than a day for them to work. It is an acid suppressant and it usually takes a few days before the acid is under control. OH takes Lansoprazole for reflux and has to take them every day. If he doesn't he soon notices. He takes one half an hour before eating breakfast. You can't take Gaviscon within a few hours of taking Lansoprazole because it stops it from working, but you will be fine if you need extra help from Gaviscon later in the day.
