Hi everyone,

I thought I would post on here as you people seem to be a great font of knowledge.

I have always suspected I had PCOS, never had regualr periods etc

I was on the pill for about four years, but then decided to get off hormone contraception and go on the copper coil, great at first and had about 6 months of regualrish periods...thought great maybe ive finally cracked it.

However since being off the pill and on the coil my facial and chest hair has got a lot worse, im tweezing every couple of days and im a teacher of secondary kids and my upper lip hair has to be bleached every few days.

Went to the doctor (changed since i moved house and was a teenager) they have done blood tests which have come back "normal" excpet my cholestrol which was 5.9 now i have learnt that this could be connected to PCOS.

Ive got to go to have a scan, but if that comes back also "normal" what else can i do? I am trying to loose weight following a low GI diet, im not overweight but could do with loosing a stone, my BMI is about 28.

What can i do to ease the hairiness and get my periods back?

Thanks in advance!!!

Oh bless you. When you go for the scan they will either be able to confirm pcos or to rule it out. If they confirm it they can then start to treat you and if it comes back clear there are obviously other areas they will need to investigate. I do have PCOS and was diagnosed by scans and hormone levels. I fortunatly didnt suffer with excess hair, just bad periods, stomach pains and hgh testosterone levels.

PS To be honest i now have the implant, no longer suffer with any symptoms and better still no periods for 15months since having i fitted! One less stress!!!!
