Overactive bladder? Prolapse? What is it?!

Hey everyone!

I'm really confused about my current situation. I'm just over twelve weeks postpartum. Last Wednesday I had a heavy bleed that resulted in me going to A&E and whilst there I passed a nasty piece of what looked like placenta. The doctor smelt my pad and diagnosed a uterine infection and tested my urine and noticed a urine infection. I was prescribed antibiotics (metranidazole and clarythrimycin). I've been taking them for roughly 6 days so far. I felt like they were really working, then all of a sudden the night before last, and all day yesterday I had a terrible episode of running to the toilet every second, my bladder felt irritated to the max and I literally felt like I was gonna pee myself - however I struggled to go when I needed to.

I went to A&E again in the end because I was terrified of bladder blockage or something and they felt my tummy, said I didn't have an enlarged bladder, my urine was checked (no bacteria this time) and he thought perhaps it could be a urologists department to look into. I have a gynaecology appointment tomorrow and am scared rotten of what they will see as I haven't looked there since giving birth!

I've suffered from overactive bladder for years now ever since I was a teenager, and I'm now 27.. this usually involved going to the toilet frequently and sometimes a feeling like I needed to go more than once. It usually settled though and was worse in cold periods or when I drank too much caffeine. However, this UTI symptomatic problem was WAY worse than what I've experienced before to the point of extreme discomfort. I literally felt like I could burst. I was prescribed stronger painkillers and sent on my merry way, told to take tolteridine for overactive bladders every day and just keep an eye on things until I can be referred to urologist. I was lucky to get the gynae appointment on the 5th as I went behind my doctors back out of urgency and worry.

Has anyone experienced prolapse and would this be it? He mentioned possible vulvodynia and my symptoms do seem symptomatic of it sometimes where I had the burning etc and I have a bruised achey feeling at my urethra and my back passage is a bit weird. I don't notice any protrusions from the vagina and my partner has looked as well as a number of midwives in the beginning (not with speculum though) and have been happy before, so do you think this is unlikely? I just want an idea of what to expect so I don't worry!
