What do you do with a 2 yo with diarrhoea and a very sore bum?

DD1 has been suffering with a "bad bum" for 3 or 4 days now. Is drinking plenty of water and appetite not dwindled so not worried about that but her poor little bum is red raw and she won't let me touch it. Any ideas on something I could put on it other than sudocrem and kammilosan (sp) to help it heal (if she lets me get anywhere near it) and also what she would eat that might bind her up?

I swear by sudocrem...put it on cotton wool so you can really lare it up, it tends to slide off the sore bits otherwise.
Didnt they say arrowroot biscuits were good?
Maybe see the dr if it goes on much longer

My DS was prescribed Timodene when he had a severe reaction to an antibiotic once. It was amazing stuff. You keep it in the fridge. Not sure if you can buy it over the counter. It really did the trick for him though. Hope your DD picks up soon.

hi timodene has to be prescribed however you can buy a product called drapolene i swear by this both my children have used after trying everything including products prescribed try it after a bath even if you are bathing a few times a day its the soreness is caused by the acidity and this can turn into bacteria infection thus the use for timodene the warm water will soothe and relax.To bind try good old fashioned toast or bread or bananas very bland food use the least acidity foods hope this helps!

Why dond you try Welleda Calendula oil-100% will help.You can find in organic shops and it is around £5.It is excelent for lots of things-dry skin, nappy rash....And for bad tummy- try toast,
plain biscuits...Good luck..

timodene is brill, also metannium when used with sudocrem (put metannium on first) and if these don't work your gp can perscribe a barrier spray which lasts 24hrs, once it dries apply more sudocrem. also i get pampers bed mats and put it under dd whilst she has no nappy on, they're great. bananas are great at trying to stop the diarrhoea.

Agree with puff, metanium definitely. Only thing that shifted it when DD had such a sore bum it was virtually peeling off.

a layer of metanium with sudocrem on top worked for us too. Letting your lo run about indoors with a bare bum will help too - just watch out for peeing or pooing!!

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! DD1 now safely tucked up in bed having had 4 hours without poo! Think the arrowroot biscuits may have helped, thanks auntymandy. Didn't know that bananas were supposed to stop the diarrhoea, thanks for letting me know - she asked for one today and I thought I'd better not give it to her as I assumed it would make things worse, fresh fruit and all. Will be bananas all day tomorrow! Have tried to use kamillosan and sudocrem but she really won't let me anywhere near her bum so all other creams are no go as well. Have resorted to frequent baths to try to keep bum clean. Tried the running about naked idea too but she really messed herself up and got even more upset.
Will wait and see how things are tomorrow and if still bad will try to get her to sit in a bath with camomile or the Welleda Calendula oil you suggested sportmad if I can find it on a sunday. Will be at the doctors on monday to ask for the barrier spray (thanks kreamkrackers) if things persist.
