Ok..so basically my 2 and a half year old DS is very ill with what seems to be a bad cold, we rushed him to hospital 2am friday morning because he woke up with a raging temperature, so high he was hallucinating severely, doctor diagnosed tonsillitus because his tonsils we're swollen and red, the anti-biotics he hates, wev tried forcing it down but he just spits every last drop out. He hasn't been improving, he has a temperature which we have been giving him paracetamol and ibuprofen every 4 hours, (not exceeding 24hr dosage) we have been struggling to keep his temperature down, anyway, he had a bad cough which has gone now, but this morning he couldn't even get out of bed, and is currently now laid in my bed, unable to move much. Just whimpering, he has been drinking plenty of fluids, what do I do.

I would call the out of hours doctor, who might want to admit him, or might not. If you can't get the antibiotics into him, you really need to talk to the doctor about that.

Sorry you are going through this. Please call the doctor.

We don't usually have a problem with him having anti-bioticsdo you suggest just taking him back to ane as we took him there 4 days ago and his symptoms have worsened?

Yes. Definitely - or call them out, poor chap doesn't sound like he'd be comfortable to be taken out anywhere right now.

They don't mind coming out to visit tinies usually x

Hey, how's he doing? I hope you've managed to get him seen and maybe a little improvement.

TooEasilyTempted · 02/01/2012 18:42

How's he doing? My DS had tonsillitis once and to get the antibiotics down him we had to get the liquid into a syringe and basically squirt it to the back of his throat.

If he's taking paracetamol and brufen could you try mixing the antibiotics in with them?

hellhasnofury · 02/01/2012 18:47

Hope he's OK, poor little man.

yummicheddars · 03/01/2012 09:23

He's ok, we took him back to hospital and basically the doctor said the anti-biotics are just a precaution and sent him home. apparantly I have to keep him 'high as a kite' on paracetamol and nurofen!
