and I'm bloody pissed off with it - it's enough to make me get back on the coffee!

stick with it - it will be worth it in the long run.

Mascaraohara · 13/01/2006 13:52

Am swinging between, never drinking coffee or tea again and I can't live without it!

Haven't changed my eating habits too much as I thought coffee and tea would be a real chore for me. I have just tried to reduce dairy right down (almost extinct) and eat more fish, fruit and veg

is it just the caffeine you like in tea/coffee? could you switch to decaf if its for the taste. we switched to decaf and have never looked back - still have my coffe but without headaches and jittery nights.

Mascaraohara · 13/01/2006 13:59

I will drink decaf coffee sometimes - maybe should switche perm. Does decaff tea taste the same as normal tea?

MH as the queen of detox, stay with it...how long are you doing it for? which one?

Beetrootfultoyourself · 13/01/2006 14:12

wheat a good one to give up for a while to

Beetrootfultoyourself · 13/01/2006 14:13

i am detoxing to for 28 days.

no alcohol either

Spidermama · 13/01/2006 14:14

Yeah stick with it. (Says she after finished strong coffee number four for today).
Seriously this is a normal caffeine withdrawal reaction. Take pain killers for a couple of days and stay off the coffee. It's worth it.

I'll join you one of these days.

Mascaraohara · 13/01/2006 14:14

Oh now you're worrying me, I don't know which one.. I bought this 5 day pack from boots (it was buy one get one free). It's just a tablet and something to mix in a litre of water.

I'm on day 5, I have tried to be good with my eating but I could have just cooked a huge bowl of pasta last night - I think I am really craving carbs as have drastically reduced tehm this week.

Can you recommend one Beety?

i have done one by Jane Scrivner a few times and nw I am trying Carol Vodermans. It is very good. no hunger. and I always feel better but worse first iykwim

Mascaraohara · 13/01/2006 14:17

I started Monday, have had a headache everyday since Tues but have been taking pain killers. Not had any alocohol, coffeee or tea. Been having vegtable soup for lunch instead of sandwiches and healthy teas but could murder pasta, jacket potato, ciabatta with oil and balsamic vinigar. ah it's too much!

One thing I have noticed is that I've been really thirsty today, I don't normally drink very much at all and my bin is absolutely full of cups from the machine.

I might try a 28 day one, is it Carol Vordermans book that you are following?

OP posts:
Beetrootfultoyourself · 13/01/2006 17:32

yes it is. water should be drunk and lods of it.8 glasses a day at least.

you can have jacket spuds with olive oil.

carol gives a whole menu for the 28 days it is great.

actually today I am fasting (stupid cow I know0 just drinking lemon, maple syrup and caynne pepper) meant to be good for a day or do.

Beetrootfultoyourself · 15/01/2006 10:59

How you doing???

Mascaraohara · 17/01/2006 08:59

I've lost my internet access at home so not doing great!

But with the detox, it went ok - it was for 5 days but I think I should've done a longer one as I don't feel like it did much.

I have decided to drastically reduce the amount of coffee and tea I drink as a result. I've only had 1 cup of coffee since and have switched to drinking Lemon and Ginger 'tea' at work.

I actually didn't mind doing it, I think I might have a look for Carol Vordermans book - A menu plan would really help me stick with it. Especially as I am trying to change my eating generally, last night... tuna steak, cous cous and salad which I think is pretty healthy.

How is yours going? How far in are you now?
