TVT surgery - when to start running?

hi. I had a tvt sling op around 3 weeks ago. Feel fab and can already notice a difference ESP when walking downhill! Has anyone else has one who is a keen runner. My consultant said 3-4 weeks before running but general advice seems to be longer! I was running about 30 miles a week before the op so know my fitness is ok - just dont want to undo the good work. Would appreciate anyone else's experiences.

Hi.
I had a colposuspension a few weeks ago, rather than TVT, and was told to wait 6-8 weeks by my consultant, by which time I will have had a check up with him and he will be able to comment on how well things are healing. However, in my case I have to have more prolapse/pelvic floor surgery and have decided not to run until after this second lot of surgery in a few months time.

Can you wait until you have had a check up? Have you been referred for physio? Perhaps the physio can comment on when it would be appropriate to run and how you can break yourself in again. I'm also an avid runner and I know how frustrating it is not to be able to so what you love. But with something as important as this, you can't risk messing it up!

Hi there,
I had a TVT in September. I started running eight weeks afterwards as per the medical advice - I leaked again so I stopped running as I was petrified the tape hadn't worked, although I was fine when I sneezed etc.
Anyway, happy to report that I've just started running again (4 months after the op), very slowly, and, so far, it seems to be OK which I am thrilled about.
