I just wondered if any one else has experience of teething pain in an older child?Ds is 7 and appears to be teething a molar right at the back, symptoms are just like a young baby-pain,earache,grumpy,headache etc.I have been giving him paracetamol and nurofen but he has not been right all day -even refused a jaffa cake + tv,so not faking!my dentist has been closed today so could not call for advice. He teethed vv badly as a baby and i wondered if this means he will also suffer with permennant teeth coming thro? Thanks to anyone with advice!

My dss have had sore gums occasionally when the back teeth come through although not as bad as your ds. It must affect everyone differently though. The teeth are quite big and have to break through the gum. My ds1 is 12 and has lost 4 back baby teeth in the last month and all his new ones are poking through and sometimes he says it is tender. The only other thing I have ever done other than what you already have is rub on bonjella.
I would see your dentist though as soon as you can.
