Nasty chest infection

So in early hours of Tuesday morning I was taken to hospital with severe pain in my left ribs at the back, breathlessness and fever. I have had a bad cold since Christmas eve coughing up brown phlegm.
After a whole day in hospital when they ruled out pneumonia they released me after having stern words with DH about me doing absoltuely nothing for five days.
I feel like I have been hit by a truck. Does anyone out there know if it will really take five days in bed (doc said I could get up but if I do I am tempted to do stuff and also get mauled by the kids and I just cannot deal with them ATM) to feel a bit better?
It feels like someone has but a metL band round my chest and is slowly tightening a screw.. Plus I have no sense of taste and so eating is not fun at all!

I had loads of chest infections after dhs court case with his exp finished, and dh has one every year due to radiotherapy on his chest. Yes you need to rest, sleep as much as possible. They say rest because they dont want to see you back there with pneumonia and pleursy.

You may feel ill for ages after the infection has actually gone too so plenty of good food and plenty of water, it keeps the chest healthy.

If you want to steam your chest use friars balsam in a container you dont care about because it stains and needs boiling water and washing up liquid to get it off again but it helps get all the crap off your chest.

Remember they tell you to rest for your good, not theirs.

Thank you for that. I had closed MN down to go to sleep by 9! Might think about steam inhalation that is a good idea the hospital didn't mention.
Will keep eating even though there is zero pleasure in it!
