Abdominal hernia

I had a c section last year and since then I have found it hard to get my stomach muscles as toned as I would like. They were very toned before my pregnancy and I am very fit now.
I have had some pain recently, but I put this down to my stomach muscles having separated when pregnant. My core muscles have been weak since. However, I have been diagnosed with an abdominal hernia.
My questions are, how long will I have to wait for surgery and how long until I am fighting fit again? (had a lot of surgery in the past and quite a tough old bird).

I had surgery for an incisional hernia last November. I saw my GP in July, saw the consultant in september, and was told I'd probably have my op. in January, but was lucky enough to get a cancellation.

It was out patient surgery and done laparoscopally - so no huge scars just three little tiny ones. I felt pretty sore for about a week after, then it gradually improved - I was told about four - six weeks recovery, for me it was probably more like 7-8 weeks before I could go back to my normal exercise classes etc. Everyday stuff, was fine earlier than this, driving would be fine after a couple of weeks I should say.
