We pooed worms

My dp found a worm in the toilet bowl.
It is 4-5 cm long, red brown in colour.

It could come from any of us. Me, him, our two kids.

It is alive, and moving. It is now in a plastic box.

I have googled, but am none the wiser.
I am literally bricking it, what could it be?

crazycrackernanna · 19/12/2011 22:28

Could it be a tapeworm?

BowlOfWorms · 19/12/2011 22:32

Thanks, I will have a google for image

Do any of you have tummy aches, itchy bums etc Blush

Theas18 · 19/12/2011 22:34

Is it not an earthworm that the kids put there?

Tapeworms look like, well tape- flat and segmented. You can get intestinal roundworms from dogs that haven't geen wormed I believe.

But a solitary worm in a toilet bowl with no poo- I think an adult would know if that fell oh of their bum all by itself?

My vote is for a garden worm ....

startail · 19/12/2011 22:35

Not a thread worm, they are white and tiny.
I guess it isn't an ordinary gardern worm.
We've had a frog in our loo. Don't ask it's an old house, I get mice, slugs, ants and slow worms an earth worm would not surprise me, especially if you've brought in any pot plants or greenery for Christmas.

startail · 19/12/2011 22:35

Cross posted.

KatyMac · 19/12/2011 22:36

Do you have a cat that could have helped the worm into the toilet?

BowlOfWorms · 19/12/2011 22:36

garden worm is impossible. Trust me. I cant say why. Confused

OP posts:
BowlOfWorms · 19/12/2011 22:36

no pets.

BowlOfWorms · 19/12/2011 22:38

We are all a bit under the weather. My bum has felt itchy since discovery of worm. Could be psychological.

OP posts:
crazycrackernanna · 19/12/2011 22:39

Could it have come up the toilet pipe?

BowlOfWorms · 19/12/2011 22:41

I am not sure. The pipes are old, it is an old house, I suppose it could have crawled in?

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 19/12/2011 22:41

i was going to say same as theas18

did you see it IN some poo? if not i would guess it has got there some other way

lostinindia · 19/12/2011 22:42

Did it look like one of these ?

pinkyp · 19/12/2011 22:45

If it had been in your bum you would of flushed it with poo.... It's probably crawlled up pipes is my guess. Relax Smile

thisisyesterday · 19/12/2011 22:45

this might help

fwiw i can't find much about red worms coming out your butt. most of them seem to be white

thisisyesterday · 19/12/2011 22:47

why can't it be a garden worm? you know you have to tell us don't you

ToffeePenny · 19/12/2011 22:47

one of these? <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=tubifex+worms&hl=en&sa=N&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-Address&gbv=2&biw=1024&bih=506&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=frl-YHE94yOTxM:&imgrefurl=www.fishchannel.com/freshwater-aquariums/fish-food/feeding-fish.aspx&docid=C0x0F4Gm4A0f8M&imgurl=www.fishchannel.com/images/exclusives/aquarium-fish-international/tubifex-500-c.jpg&w=500&h=367&ei=Qr7vTuuHLYey8QOshdT0CQ&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=4&sig=118086461063403909724&page=1&tbnh=127&tbnw=192&start=0&ndsp=10&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=102&ty=61" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Tubifex tubifex

If so you're all fine, they would have been washed up into the toilet bowl from the sewer where they live- we had some 2 years ago (basement flat, lots of rain)

Sparklingbaubles · 19/12/2011 22:48

I wanted to ask that Thisis.

BowlOfWorms · 19/12/2011 22:50

It actually looks most like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=whipworm+in+humans&um=1&hl=en&sa=X&rlz=1G1SVEF_ENUK452&tbm=isch&tbnid=WtGutYSP-rKLWM:&imgrefurl=www.intestinalworms.net/&docid=apejni5iZdqDsM&imgurl=www.intestinalworms.net/images/Trichuris_trichiura.jpg&w=92&h=109&ei=Db_vToyQEaqP4gS1h5n1CA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=537&vpy=331&dur=398&hovh=87&hovw=73&tx=73&ty=39&sig=100917297802735748290&page=13&tbnh=87&tbnw=73&start=132&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:132&biw=1138&bih=519" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this Whipworm

I spent an awful day thinking I had worms. Turned out DH has put some dental tape in the toilet and not flushed.

BowlOfWorms · 19/12/2011 22:54

I wish I could have discovered it was dental tape... We fished it up, and put in in a box. It was moving. It has a very distinct shape, it is getting thinner at each end, rather than rounded.

Why don't you all have the worm treatment just in case?
