Hi, i have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday but in the meantime just need some reassurance...

Sorry if this is TMI... Recently I have noticed that in the days before I get my period I get a little bit of brown discharge. This hasn't really worried me, as it's just before my period and I assume it's just old blood. But this time round it's different - my period is not due until Monday or Tuesday of this week, but for the last couple of weeks I have been getting very small amounts of brown stuff - never any red blood, but just very small bits of light brown gunk!!!! I am also prone to IBS type symptoms (have had this for years) so now I have convinced myself that I have advanced cancer!!!

I am in my late 30s so hoping there is a more innocent explanation, like maybe endometriosis?

Do you have any other symptoms? I have endo and have horrendous cramps when I'm in my period but limited clots. I wouldn't think endo just because you have a bit of brown discharge, it will be a whole host of symptoms.

No, I get cramps and all sorts of pains too (but always thought it was IBS- now thinking it may all be related). Would much rather it was endo than cancer!!!!

Agree with banana, I have endo too and if this is your only symptom then its unlikely that it is endometriosis. You would know if you had that believe me, the pain when you have your period is abnormal!

Have you got any other symptoms?

It doesnt sound like anything sinister (I.e. cancer). Is it just cramping (ibs) and brown discharge you are experiencing? It may just be that's the way you are, lots of people experience spotting before AF.

I have endo and my symptoms are now very mild compared to what they were.

I have to wear a TENs machine for ovulation and my period. The cramping is horrific, I have severe scarring on my left ovary and if I don't brace myself when I sneeze I feel like I have torn something inside.

I don't get any brown discharge, but do feel like I may pass out from the pain when I have a bowel movement when I am on my period. My endo deposits are mainly concentrated in the "pouch of douglas" (google it) this was confirmed by laparoscopy years ago. It is worse than labour pain when I was only on gas and air at 9cm.

To be honest endo is often mis-diagnosed as IBS or pelvic inflammatory. I realise that you are going to the doctors tomorrow. let us know what he/she says. Also have a look at [http://www.endometriosis-uk.org/information/symptoms.html]]
