Found a lump in dd's neck

I've just found a rather large lumpion dd's neck. It's 1-2cm across, just below her jawline, roughly in line with her ear, tucked between the tendons (?). It's only visible if she bends her head to the other side. Not painful at all - I only discovered it while absent-mindedly rubbing her neck.

The GP is going to tell me "that's a Doohicky Watsit - everyone has them" - isn't she?

Swollen gland? Has she had a cold/sore throat recently?

I'd take her to your GP to be sure but my DD had one and it was a gland so try not to worry.

My DD2 had a stray bit of cartilage that was about 1cm across near her jugular. Dr told us to keep an eye and it's now vanished. She's 6. I would get it checked by the GP, it's probably nothing but it will reassure you.

ds1 had a swollen gland for about 2 years when he was young. I took him to the doctors and the doctor said if it's softish and can be moved, it's a gland, if it's fixed and hard it might warrant further investigation.

A few weeks ago she did seem to be coming down with a cold or something, but never actually got ill. It happened several times.

Maybe that's all it is, a leftover from a mild almost-illness.

My dd has gland on neck that never seems to go down, have asked diff gps over the years & none of them concerned. See your gp but try not to worry in meantime.
