Cradle cap in 3 and 5 yrold...advice needed on how to treat

Both my ds developed cradle cap each around the age 1. I used olive oil at night times but it never cleared up so went to doctors who gave me something that smelt like turpentine....I used it once but never again...ds1 was very sick the next day.
Since then have been reluctant to take them back to doctors about this so have just used olive oil when its really flared up. Neither of my ds's have ever complained about it or remarked if it was uncomfortable or itchy so it hasn't been a great concern.
I really wouldlike to get on top of it now though....its gone on for far too long.
Any advice greatly appreciated

dentinox do cradle cap shampoo... it's really good

You can get a shampoo called Dentinox from the chemists--it seems to work (so does the olive oli but it's less practical when they're older and have more hair!) ...anyhow, this shampoo worked on my three year old. Doesn't smell of turpentine, either (I just checked!)

I used olive oil and a nit comb. It was funny, for ages after that whenever I used the olive oil, my son would ask why I was using his hair stuff. I had to use it a couple of times.

Rausch shampoo - Willow bark and thyme I think - is great for dry crusty scalps ! (also anti pests like nits ). Not sure where to buy it in Uk though. dd is 4 and has been much improved since we started using it occasionally about a year ago.

Do you brush their hair??
its really a build up of scalp...
[can't think of the word] ....
usually its brushed away but if you don't brush it, it just builds up and up and up....

Try the dentinox shampoo... it will probably recomend that you massage it into the scalp then brush it out....

Good luck...
