Apparently I used to grind my teeth as a child but recently noticed my jaw is really aching and headaches. I dont think I'm grinding but the clenching of my jaw and have noticed gum and tongue sucking. I can wake up with clenching and trying to relax my mouth in the day. I have no idea why its started as I'm less stressed, do suffer from mild anxiety but nothing bad. I have been suffering with sinsus and nasal problems for a few years and wonder if this is adding to my misery. I also was a fibromyalgia suffer but this has been improving over the last few years.

Has anyone had treatment for this? A guard is what is typically used by what about the root cause - hypnosis perhaps?

It's making me really miserable.

I am a grinder and a clencher. I have a night guard, but find that my worse clenching is during the day, I am unaware I am doing it until my jaw or head starts hurting. Obviously wearing a guard during the day would be unrealistic! but I don't really know what do about it, so will follow this thread with interest.

I ground my teeth much more when I was pregnant, so much so that I broke one tooth in half and cracked another. My dentist said it runs in families, I know my dad used to do it, and I hear my dd2 grinding in her sleep.

I also suffer from anxiety, and have been on Citalopram for the last year, I feel as though it has got worse with the Citalopram.
