Hi there !

I take my 40 mg citalopram, last thing before I go to bed but I find difficult to wake up and I often have a massive headache ! I know it is probably linked to the tablet.I'm scared to take it in the morning in case of I feel unwell during the day. I have been on it for a month. Thank you for your help !

Morning shake.7am every morning. GP told me specifically not to take at night. I am fine in the day. Have been on it since July.

How's it going-any difference yet? It does take a while.

I used to take mine at night as when I took it in the morning I felt sick all day.

Sparklingbaubles · 08/12/2011 09:29

Started on 20, now up to 40. Really good thanks. I struggled in the first few weeks and nearly jacked it in and so glad I didn't.

Still get a bit hot and sweaty sometimes and always really constipated. Blush. Bit forgetful too. But it's worth it. Smile

I take my 20mg as soon as I get up, also specifically told by GP NOT to take it on a night, I think it can disrupt sleep. Smile

I have been on citalopram 20 for 3 years then the gp upped it to 40 mg. I'm alright but I have been feeling really tearful and sad these last few days.

Interesting. I started mine in the morning but felt so sick that I switched it to night time - I also wake up with a headache but it doesn't disrupt my sleep. Don't know which is worse Sad.

Only been on it for two weeks though so early days.

I take mine before bed too. At first I had trouble sleeping and restless legs, but that wore off.

shaketheshame · 08/12/2011 10:22

I used to drink a lot so I know a thing or 2 about hangovers Smile...This morning I felt as if I spent my night drinking and I have now the mother of every hangover ! I'm about to take a soldapeine as I cant take anymore of that ! I'm feeling really low :-(

Yes I have taken it at times and my GP was very clear it would be best taken in the morning.

You shouldn't really take SSRI's in the evening/night as they can really interrupt your sleep.

Citalopram is best taken in the morning- none of our patients would be prescribed this medication at night, especially at a dose of 40mg.
