Hydronephrosis and dilated kidney

Hi there

I wondered if anyone had any experience of the above? DS2 was found to have one dilated kidney at our 20 week scan. He was put of prophylactic antibiotics at birth and was scanned, his right kidney was dilated to 19mm. He was scanned again at 3 months and at 6months (20 and 21mm) and had a micturating cystoscope?) which showed no reflux from his bladder towards his kidney. He was taken off antibs at 3 months.

In June we were told if his kidney size remain stable we would be discharged after the next scan as it had been stable since birth and he was well.
Had scan yesterday (hes now 13months) and the dilatation now measures 33mm. His kidney function has obviously decreased.

We see the paediatrician on Monday but if anyone has been through something like this I'd be really interested in any thoughts on what might happen next.

Thanks

Hi Hanbee, we had a different experience with DS1 because although he was watched for 6 years he was eventually discharged (initially our story was the same as yours).

I just wanted to suggest you post this in children's health, because I have seen threads on the topic in the past with lots of replies so I'm sure there are people who could answer your question somewhere on mn.
