no, but it's free on prescription if you're pregnant. Can buy it over the counter. Have you tried natural yogurt?

can use it while pregnant (thank god, life would be hell without it!), use a pessary and then the cream for 7 days and it should sort it out.

You can walk in to any chemist and buy it over the counter but it is extremely expensive.

HV's can prescribe it as well as GP's. If I ring our HV up, they will leave a prescription for me to collect.

alibubbles you are talking about the oral tablet which you can't take in pregnancy.

the pessary and cream are not fluconazole and ARE safe in pregnancy

You can buy unbranded Canesten cream though (Boots sell it) I think the medicine name is Clomatrizole, but I might be wrong. If you ask the people working on the pharmacy, they will know. Don't think there is an unbranded pessary out yet.

It's worth asking the GP (if you do go) for a couple of doses, 'just in case it doesn't clear'. Mine is very good, and will often prescribe four lots of the pessary and cream.

Sorry but have to say, I had thrush right through my last pregnancy. Never having had it before. I got prescripton for pessary & cream off doc which would clear it up for about a week. It kept coming back. I also tried natural,live yoghurt to no avail. Midwife told me that thrush is v common in pregnancy & would clear up when had given birth. Thank God it did! Am now trush free

fluconazole is not safe in pregnancy
It is in the oral tablet, not the cream or pessary.
That is why you can't take the oral tablet in pregnancy.
Stick to the cream or pessary where the active ingredient is clomatrizole.
I agree you are likely to have to use it a lot during pregnancy if you have it already now. Cutting down sugar intake helps a lot.

Sorry to repeat this Alibubbles but you are confusing the issue by going on about fluconazole! Just say no to the oral tablet!
