My mother is 91 ,congestive heart failure ,odema ,varicose veins in legs .has had cellultis a few times in past .

She's fairly mobile .

Currently has a wound on lower leg ,finished a course of antibiotics 2 weeks ago prescribed because wound swab showed some infection .

On Friday I noticed livid red hand sized mark on leg ,larger on saturday .
No pain ,warm to touch . But her legs tend always to be on hot side to touch .

Had disappeared by Sunday midday .

I'm sure that if a GP had called on Saturday they would have thought cellulitis and she'd be back on antibiotics .

I can't think what else the mark could have been other than cellulitis ( looked exactly same as on other ocassions ) but how could it have disappeared so quickly and untreated ?

Your mum sound fab still being mobile with all that going on.
Cellulitis doesnt tend to appear then disapear that quickly, do you think it was a pressure mark, she was sittling leaning on it or something?

No definitely not a mark from leaning on it ,wrong shape etc .
Plus it appeared on Friday ,increased in size over Saturday .... and disappeared by 2pm on sunday .

Difficult to say if it disappeared.. if it was an infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissues[cellulitis] it wouldn't just disappear with no antibiotics.
Keep an eye on it, elevate her legs a little when she is sitting down .

Thanks ,yes I'll try and encourage her to put her feet up .
