thanks QV, he had actually bought up a conversation last night that he wouldnt be able to do wot boys do at a certain age (dont want to be to rude and put the actual word that begins with w!)because he thought his willy was different to his mates. hes only 11!i didnt realise they looked at each others, or perhaps they just chat and he realised he was a bit different. hes a very confident boy so once hes got used to the idea he'l probly go around saying "im being circumcised" to everyone that will listen!

OP posts:
starlover · 08/01/2006 00:18

well he should know that ALL willies look pretty different! and you can tell him that after puberty they definitely all change. no-one will be able to tell he's had an op... and even if he had a full circumcision it really wouldn't make a difference.
he'll be able to wank to his heart's content!

QueenVictoria · 08/01/2006 00:19

Indeed SL! he'll be fine, honestly.

Misspiggy · 08/01/2006 00:22

Thanks! We're playing the top of the league team tomorrow so Ds will be covered in mud and bruises at the end of the match (he's midfield as well) We'll have to compare results!

7777777 · 08/01/2006 00:23

now youve used the word starlover i can!im new on here so dont know wots ok and wots not. he actually said to me after the doc had said about circumcision that he wouldnt be able to wank without a foreskin!bless him. of course i told him he would be able to and that willies look better without one anyway.

7777777 · 08/01/2006 00:27

Will do! I'm off to bed now otherwise I'll never be up in the morning to cheer him on He goes mad if we make any noise and show him up...so I mustn't forget my rattle, pom poms and loudhailer...

7777777 (not sure if I did enough 7s there
Sorry your DS1 is going through this but i am sure that as soon as he recovered from the procedure he will feel much better about it all.

I just wanted to say though ... PLEASE don't start trying to pull your 14 month old's foreskin back! He is too little for it to pull back and you may damage it.
When DS was potty trained at 3 I noticed that his foreskin ballooned when he did a wee so I took him to the doctor. The doctor examined it, managed to pull it back really gently to show me it was fine (but a little tight which was normal for his age) and then told me that on no account must I try this at home. He said that when DS was 4 we could show him how to pull it back himself in the bath once a week to wash it.
Basically he said that under the age of 4 the foreskin SHOULDN'T be pulled back, and if, over the age of 4, it COULDN'T be pulled back then that was the time for further investigation.

7777777 please come back to the BB thread I'm ignoring the MB hater now so hopefully others will cotton on and do the same.

Dennis isn't naked yet Booooooooooooooh

Blandmum · 08/01/2006 08:51

7777777, my dh had the skin loosening operation (I think it is called a frenectomy sp??) when he was an adult. Although his forskin would retract, it didn't do so easily and caused him pain when we were having sex.

He was warned he might need a full circumcison, but in the end they just 'trimmed' the skin that holds the forskin to the base of the head of the penis (IYSWIN). He needed one stitch in it. Within a week it was all back in perfect working order and he has no problems with it at all now (this is over 20 years ago btw)

harpsichordcarrier · 08/01/2006 09:06

oh I am sorry to hear this 7777777
FWIW I have a (ahem) friend who was circumcised in his teenage years (around 18 I think) because he was having lots of problems. and he says he was very glad to see it gone IYSWIM, and he certainly had no difficulties using it in any context [ahem ahem]. but he did say he used lots of lubrication when playing by himself...
sorry poss TMI....

7777777 · 08/01/2006 15:01

hi everyone thats added about my ds little problem!good job i got the antiobiotix today because when we came book from footie (he scored a hat trick!) he dropped his pants and said "ugh mum wots this in my pants" and the poor thing had quite a bit of discharge in there. that didnt happen last time. he said "i wont be able to go to school will i". blooming cheek i reminded him that hed been running around on a footie pitch for an hour and hed manage to goal score as well. bless him, arent the male species awful when it comes to blagging time off school/work. i wont be pulling little ones foreskin back ghosty, thanks. im such a wimp i probly wasnt pulling it back further than a mm anywayxx

miss piggy how did footie go?il have to look for you on the sports section!

OP posts:
Misspiggy · 09/01/2006 00:03

Hi 7777777!...haven't had a chance to get on before now. Footy was great -DS1's team won 5-1 and he scored a goal, with 2 assists (look at me trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about )so he was a happy bunny! Your lad did well with a hat trick...brilliant. Don't you just love how the slightest thing is an excuse to not go to school but they can manage the fun things just fine, litte darlings? The antibiotics should start to kick in over the next couple of days so that discharge should go pretty soon. So, you're into Celeb BB as well then? Guess which sad cow was watching them sleep at 2am...yup, moi! Better get off to bed or work isn't going to happen in the morning. x

sunnydelight · 09/01/2006 11:40

DH and his brother were both circumcised for cultural reasons. Not sure why their parents left it so late but I think he was about 7 and his brother 9. He remembers it being uncomfortable, but not painful. When DS1 was born we enquired about having him circumcused but in the end I couldn't justify a tiny baby having a spinal anaesthetic for essentially aesthetic reasons. Personally I much prefer circumcised men

7777777 · 09/01/2006 13:54

hi sunny, yea i think a circumcised one looks better. from wot the other ladies have said on here it sounds like he might just have to have a 'trim up'. i think its cause hes old enough to know wots going on that hes worried, and even tho hes a jack the lad he can be a big girls blouse also!your post has reminded me to ring dox and book apt for him, the sooner he gets on the list the better.

NomDePlume · 09/01/2006 13:57

My DS1 had the op for medical reasons when he was 8, it was uncomfortable for him post-operatively but he was really brave and not as bad as he was expecting. He healed quickly and well.

7777777 · 09/01/2006 14:05

it sounds to me from the messages that all the boys that have had it done have been uncomfortable and had quite bad probs. my son has only ever had 2 infections?perhaps its because hes got the pin hole opening but how would that get bigger by losing a forskin.weird.he has never suffered with it being uncomfortable, im sure he would have told me. 2nd opinion i think is needed[confused face]

OP posts:
Piffle · 09/01/2006 14:14

feel for you my ds is nearly 12 and imaginging him in this position would be awful.
My friends ds had the same op at 7 and was back to leaping around a week later and had very few problems at all and he is now 10 and can barely remember it so not at all traumatised

7777777 · 09/01/2006 14:21

did your friends son have a full one done?i cant imagine it being red raw it must be agony!

OP posts:
PrettyCandles · 09/01/2006 14:34

I've been told (by someone who had it done before puberty, and whos dad had had it done after puberty) that after puberty there's a lot more smegma produced, and of a different nature, so there's more likelihood of infection. The guy who told me this had only ever had a couple of infections, like 77777's ds, but his dad didn't want to wait-and-see, because he had suffered more after puberty than before. But I don't know how accurate this info is - for all I know it can ease after puerty?

7777777 · 09/01/2006 15:35

ive just booked the dox for 9.20 tomoro, ds will be pleased he l get a bit of time off school!the doc at hospital did also say that its best done before puberty so as hes 11yr 4months should get him done asap as in another few months he l probly turn into a hormonal, sulky boy. hes just walked in from school and said he "i had a little cry in the playground because it was stinging", ahh bless, glad ive booked the apt.

Hi 7777777. Sorry to hear about your ds needing a circumcision...poor boy. My ds1 who is 10 had one 2 months ago. My dh and I were both unhappy about it being done (as was ds!) but if they have a pin hole opening there is no alternative. We were told we were at last resort by the consultant and had no option. My ds was only able to wee in drops which is awful. The op itself went well and although pretty sore for a few days it heals really quickly. Good luck for the appointment - you are doing the best for your boy.

7777777 · 09/01/2006 19:39

hi dusty, is it just general anathestic and out by the evening, was he able to walk and move about ok after? sorry all these questions, it just seems that it would be v.painful and sore.

OP posts:
jco · 09/01/2006 19:49

I've just taken my ds to a hospital appointment this afternoon and found out that he needs to be circumsized! He's only 5!! Fortunately he doesn't really understand. When he has a wee his penis sort of ballons at the end because apparently the hole isn't big enough. Its always been like that but I really didn't know that it wasn't normal and he hasn't got a father around to point it out. I only took him to the docs about 12 months ago because his penis was getting sore and found out he had an infection. he's now on the waiting list for the op and should be having it done in about 6 months, i'm really nervous for him an because he is so young i'm not sure what i should tell him!?
