Complex cyst on ovary

Has anyone had a complex cyst on 1 or both of their ovaries?

I've been told I have one on my right ovary and I'm going back to be rescanned next week. I just wondered if anyone could tell me what happened to them when this was found.

Many thanks.

I had a dermoid cyst on each ovary - one size of melon, one size of apple! No symptoms - found during routine check. Was referred to specialist & in for surgery within couple of weeks. Had to have one ovary removed and part of other one removed. I was 24 (now 42) went on to have 3 kids afterwards. Was off work 3 months & took about 6 months to fully recover - used to get really bad period pains each month for 2 years afterwards. if your cyst is smaller then surgery will be less so probably quicker recovery - also I'm sure medical procedures improved as mine was nearly 20 yrs ago! Good luck. Xx

I have had three (hardcore ha) removed in two separate operations.

Both ops were fine, keyhole and a week off work and gently back afterwards. I work in an office with lots of lovely women who helped a lot and made me tea when sore!

I didnt lose any bit of any ovaries and apparently am fully fertile still - if I wanted to be. THey did warn me that i may lose a part of any ovary or a whole one but I think they have to say that to cover themselves, as I understand it it is only if the cyst has got all wrapped up in the ovary and made a mess that you might lose it completely.

I did have symptoms which led me to doc in first place. And then back when they discovered numbers 2 and 3 at same time. I have symptoms again and currently waiting for a scan.

My first was orange sized and not sure of size of the next ones.

The things they do now are marvellous and the fact they can whip them out keyhole is great and much better for recovery time.

If your scan says it is complex they prob will say have it removed but please dont worry. Oh and if you are having symptoms you may well feel a whole lot better once it is gone. I did.....

Good luck. x
