Magnesium for hormonal headaches?

I have always suffered with menstrual migraines but recently have been having more than one per month and they are increasingly difficult to shake off, leaving me sluggish and listless for several days, with fitful sleep. Previously my triptan tablets and migraleve followed by a good night's sleep was enough to make me almost human again.
Browsing around the Internet I've seen magnesium recommended as a possible preventative as it apparently helps level out hormones through the month. I've bought some 'Magnesium OK' supplement tablets to try.
Just wondered if anyone else had tried this and had any feedback?
