Hand holding for a breast lump

DigOfTheChristmasTreeStump · 29/11/2011 12:06

I've been keeping any eye on a lump for about eight weeks now. However, it's not linked to my menstrual.cycle so saw my GP today.

She's almost certain it is harmless but I have been referred to the cancer team just invade, but they have a six week turnaround time.

Anyone want to reassure me along the way?

No experience but here's a hand to hold. I think a large percentage of lumps turn out to cysts or existing breast tissue changes. A friend was referred about a lump 2 years ago and it turned out to be fine, they said it was just grissly tissueBlush she was relieved. I hope you will be okay, the wait will be the hard part. I am sure some more people with better experience will be here very soon. Take care of yourself.

Oooh, horrid time, the waiting. The Tamoxifen thread ladies will no doubt pop along to give you some reassuring statistics in a minute (I can't remember them, but its something like 90% chance of it being a nothing-lump).

I've had several investigations over the years, so far my diagnosis is 'lumpy boobs' Smile

You have a good GP, though. She is right to have you checked out, just as a matter of course.

hi there, i was referred just a couple of weeks ago and had my appointment last week. i was trying to reassure myself the whole time during the wait that it was OK but you cant really help yourself from worrying, tbh. on the day of the appt i was extremely nervous. but, they just examined me and were 99% certain it was nothing, a lipoma actuially, which i had to google to find out waht it was! im going for an ultrasound to be sure to be sure, but im not worried anymore as they seemed so sure.

so worrying is inevitable , but really the odds are in your favour that it willl be nothing.

and here is my hand to hold in the meantime.

hello Digofthe It's horrible waiting i know -try not too google..most lumps are harmless but am sure you'll fret all the same. Please do hop over to the tamoxifen thread as we've all been through the waiting and can hold your hand and distract you with all manner of frivolity here !

Thank you all, will head off to tamoxifen for a chat ...
