Warning: Poss TMI Gastric related.

I am lactose and wheat intolerant. Over the last six months I've had at least 10 gastric type bugs each lasting 24-48hrs, always with diarrhea and terrible nausea, sometimes with vomiting and eggy burps, none of my family have been affected by it. Also I have at least one case per week where an hour or two after I have eaten I have sudden diarrhea. Generally I feel tired and under the weather.

I have seen my Dr who has taken blood and a sample to test for coeliac disease, liver function, blood count and for a bug in my stool sample (I have forgotten which). All came back clear.

Can anyone offer any advice for what to do next?

Could there be some lactose or wheat in something that you eat regularly? Recheck the things you eat and drink. Manufacturers sometimes change product ingredients. Poor you.

Diverticulitis?

Could you do a really restrictive diet for a fortnight? Have something that you won't react to, like rice or something bland for 2 weeks perhaps with plain chicken breast?

Then add new things into your diet and see what you react to?

Are you seeing a gastroenterologist? Who diagnosed your lactose & wheat intolerances?

A coeliac blood test will come back negative if you are avoiding wheat.

From the sound of it you may need an endoscopy & biopsy to establish what?s wrong. Have you been abroad anywhere exotic you may have picked something up?

I feel for you ? gastric issues are awful.

Poor you :(, if you have been avoiding lactose and wheat because of intolerance and have been tested for coeliac then the test may be compromised as you are not eating the wheat for your body to react to it if you see what I mean. I hope you get answers soon, I have just read the post from rode shoes and she has said the same thing.

Also if you have to have a gastroscopy and colonoscopy you may need to introduce wheat back into your diet as if the biopsied it would also have an effect and may show a false negative.
