Like Omperzole (sp??) etc?

If so, did you find it also helped with your bowels? I'm usually constantly constipated but since taking these I've been to the bog every day.

Co-incidence?

Well I'm on esomeprazole for a stomach complaint and also metformin which usually has bad side effects bowel wise, but with the esomeprazole its ok and I know if I've missed a dose.

On Lanzoprazole as I've acid reflux due to using Ibuprofen and Etodolac (not together though) in the past. I'm on Celebrex, which is a good bit more gentle on the stomach than the other 2 mentioned. I'm at the point where the 30mg of Lanzo are not enough now to keep the acid from rising. Luckily my DH managed to make an appointment to see my GP so will speak to him about that as well as a few other things.

I'm certainly not as constipated as what I used to be, but I don't know what that is down to.

Omeprazole definitely loosens the bowels - the doctor confirmed it. I have IBS and ended up with constant diarrhoea one summer due to taking Omeprazole every day. I slowly reduced the dose to a 20mg tablet every other day and the diarrhoea went. This dose keeps the reflux at bay as well.

I take omeprazole for my ulcer and havent seen a change at all! but I wasnt constipated anyway.

grumpykat · 24/11/2011 15:00

Nope, not a coincidence. I'm taking Omeprazole to balance the ulcer-causing effects of my steroid treatment for kidney disease. IBS has disappeared, resulting in clockwork pooing! Bizarre but at least a sort of silver lining to the giant kidney shaped cloud in my life!

I take Lansaprole, have been on it for 12 weeks - my GP says it causes diahorrea sometimes, or loose stools (!) but I get constipation one day and the runs the next. I suspect the Lansaprole is to blame for both - I'd like to come off it for a month and see what happens.

See I must be weird as it has the opposite effect on me - not constipated but not as loose as normal....

Omeprazole upset my stomach terribly. I came off it. My GP gave me a right rollocking last week for being on the max dose of an NSAID without taking something to protect my stomach. I've started on 150mg 2x a day of ranitidine and no stomach sideys so far!
