Does anyone see things that aren't there? Or should I worry?

Erm, have namechanged because I am worried that I've completely lost my mind...

I often sometimes see things out of the corner of my eye that aren't there - mice scurrying across the floor, beetles etc. I know they aren't there but I always have a second look to make sure.

Other things too, like someone standing behind me and stains on clothes when I'm ironing. I thought this happened to everybody til I vaguely mentioned it to DP who thinks that it is not normal Blush

I'll join your abnormal club. I see things too. I have regular eye tests and nothing abnormal has ever been detected.

Are you sleep deprived? What you describe is a common symptom.

AmISeeingThings · 13/11/2011 18:02

Thank goodness, hellhasnofury.

I was sleep deprived Bertie, but not so much now. I have sleeping tablets which I take sometimes but generally sleep quite well without them. I am constantly exhausted though.

I've always seen things like this - for at least 10 years or so.

The stain thing often happens for me when I am looking at something light coloured, it sometimes happens when I am reading text. Sometimes, but not always, it can indicate the onset of a headache.

I often catch glimpses of non-existent mice scurrying across the floor. I do suffer from floaters so I put them down to the scurrying creatures I see.

AmISeeingThings · 13/11/2011 18:09

Hmm, I don't really get headaches but I do have floaters. I assumed everybody had those too.

I do this too and have done for many years. Like hellhasnofury I have regular eye tests and have no other health problems that would explain it.

I have just recently started things that aren't there.

I'm in denial about it atm though so am refusing to turn my head to acknowledge I have seen it insect/moth/shadow etc

Obviously this is pointless as it affects no one but me - but it does make me feel better Blush

AmISeeingThings · 13/11/2011 18:18

Ok, well since none of you are horrified, I'm not going to fret about it. I'll just not mention it to DP again and live with my little visitors.

I always think there are spiders running across the floor when theres not and people stood in corners or at windows :s

AngryFeet · 13/11/2011 18:22

I do this too. I think it is a combination of floaters/seeing something in the corner of my eye plus my overactive imagination! Grin

OneHandFlapping · 13/11/2011 18:24

You can add me to your list of people who see thingas that aren't there.

The stains when ironing and on books, I just put down to a trick of the light. The people standing there and such, I can often trace to eg the way the curtains have folded, or the position of a piece of furniture. Spiders scurrying are often just a bit of fluff. Not that I've spent much time trying to rationalise it or anything...

LoveBeingAFirework · 13/11/2011 18:30

And me. It's worse when I'm stressed out or tired.

Nonsensical · 13/11/2011 18:37

Do you wear glasses? I often think I've seen something moving out of the corner of my eye and it is actually a reflection in my glasses or the frame. I am sleep deprived too though!
