contraceptive pill for someone v.sensitive to hormones?

just had dd2 in October and need some contraception. have been using condoms but don't feel very confident as we definitely don't want to get pg again! dh will probably have a vasectomy next year but in the meantime i need a reliable contraceptive.

the combined pill does not agree with me at all; have had both a normal coil and mirena coil before, both a bit of a disaster. gp put me on a progesterone only mini-pill last month. have so far bled for 10 days solid and have gone right off sex and am very moody (which i guess is a good contraceptive!) so decided not to take it anymore from yesterday.

anyone else had problems with hormonal-based contraceptives? if so, what have you done?

can you not try a different mini-pill? I have been on several different ones and the one I'm on at the moment (femulen),doesnt give me any side effects apart from a slightly shorter cycle

yes i probably need to be more patient too. i've just been on a few websites and i think i need to give it another month to see if the bleeding settles down - all the info says it probably will. i'm just fed up with being on a constant period!

The mirena has less hormone than the mini-pill so if you didn't get on with that, i'm not sure what else you could take. Personally i bled for a couple of weeks after I had the mirena put in but after that virtually nothing for a year.
