hi,

I'm 45 yo and i've not had a period for over 2 months now. The last one i had was 2 weeks late but i put that down to stress.

I suffer from health anxiety and have been going through a really bad spell for the last 5 months. I have ibs and it was flaring up really bad for a while, its considerably better now but i still have the odd day here and there when it flares up again.

I keep getting mild pelvic cramps as though my period is about to start but it never does. Over the last 2 years i've had the odd late period but not really thought much of it, now i'm wondering if this could be perimenopause. At first i just thought it was the stress but my anxiety has lessened so not sure what to think. Going to go to my gp next week, what tests should i expect her to do?

Can anyone else relate to this?

Hi kaylasmum!

didnt want to leave your post unansweared.
Im pleased you have a doc appointment next week as irregular periods should always be checked out.
Im 26 and currently been referred to a consultant regarding irregular periods along with other symptoms/problems!!
Iv just found out i have polycystic ovary syndrome, and i also have underactive thyroid which i have been taking medication for over 2 years now.

As i have had various hormonal tests, i hope i can help.
In my opinion i think your gp will do. TSH levels for thyroid problems (which can cause problems with periods) LH, FSH levels which can indicate PCOS, Menopause, or to show whether you are ovulating or not. A progesterone test may also be done.

I do hope you get the answears you need as its taken me along time now to finally get answears.

Good luck with your appointment xx

Could be the Peri Smile
My cycles go from 17-46 days for nearly 2 years now...keep a diary.
Any other symptoms? Hot/sweaty,broken sleep, forgetfullness, increased sex drive, bad PMT.

Best see your GP though,if nothing just to put your mind at rest.
