What's up with my periods?

TMI alert!

My periods have been increasingly long and heavy, although fairly regular, over the past year. I'm talking seven days of having to wear a super tampon and a towel, with terrible depressive feelings - almost like I am suffering a breakdown.

I saw my GP and had an ultrasound and some blood tests earlier this year, and all appeared normal. No cysts or fibroids, I'm not anaemic etc etc.

My last period (started 10 days ago) but was lighter and shorter than it has been - not light, but medium flow, and lasted 3 days (tmi, sorry!). It ended a week ago, but in the last day or two I have had crampy feelings and slightly bloody, mucusy discharge. Today there were small clots. I got a sudden paranoia attack and did a pregnancy test (negative). I'm going to make an appointment with my GP tomorrow, but just wondered if anyone knew what this could all mean? i really feel so hormonal and premenstrual a lot of the time, and wondere dif it could be early menopause or something? I am 34, btw.

Im having the same symptoms! Im 25, early menopause runs in my family (usually happening around age 40)

I have terrible PMS a lot of the time, especially that feeling you describe, like you are having a breakdown or something :( it is horrid.

My periods have always been 7 days long and heavy with 20 days inbetween each one. Last month i had a period as normal, then 13 days later i started having period type cramps and spotting with a couple of small clots (sorry tmi) then it changed to brown discharge every other day until my period came on time.

Now, 13 days after my period, im having period type cramps again and slight spotting..done a pregnancy test or 4 negative, no chance anyway tbh.

Will be watching this thread, sorry i can't be more helpful just thought i'd add my bit! :)

Any tests done over six months ago should be discounted; you need up to date test results.

I would be asking the GP to refer you to a gynae in such circumstances.

Hi wests...have you been to the doctor? I think it needs investigating. I have dysfunctional uterine bleeding...(constant period)...luckily now under control...after a whole 12 months of bleeding. So i can sympathise with how you are feeling. Definitely seek advice from your doctor.
