the MOTHER of all headaches - can I throw everything at it?

the most excruciating headache has just come on in the last 10 mins - like being gripped by a vice behind my ears. (I have a cold which has blocked my ears quite badly guess it could be to do with that).

Am supposed to be going for dinner with fairly "new" friends in an hour, I really don't want to cancel so late. Have taken paracetamol. Can I also take ibuprofen AND aspirin?

I believe so.

Also a Dr friend said that most headaches are caused by dehydration or neck tension. Maybe drink lots of water, deep heat on your temples and neck - will loosen any stiff muscles and the menthol may help clear your nose / tubes

nooooo

not ibuprofen AND aspirin, I think

afaik they're both in the same group.

You can take 3 dissolvable aspirin or 2 neurophen as well as the paracetomol. Caffeine will help too

PerAr6ua · 29/10/2011 19:01

Go with the aspirin over the ibuprofen - can't take both. And out a wheat-bag/hot water bottle on the back of your neck?

And if you think it might be your ears, try wrapping something hot around them for 5 mins - might be enough to change the pressure?

And a couple of drinks but not more...

PerAr6ua · 29/10/2011 19:02

And yes, espresso unless coffee makes you feel headachy - or a proper cup of tea...

AngryFeet · 29/10/2011 19:19

You can take paracetemol and ibuprofen togther

SpringHeeledJack · 29/10/2011 19:25

you can take paracetamol and ibuprofen, but not ibuprofen and aspirin, afaik

they're nsaids. Or something

Thank you! Have gone for paracetamol & ibuprofen and may throw in a sudafed for the ears/ sinuses. Wise to go easy on the booze I think!

sudafed sometimes also has paracetomol in - check the label!

And alcohol plus paracetomol can lead to muscle pains irrc, so keep it down...

have a lovely time Hmm Grin
