methotrexate for psoriasis

Has anyone been prescribed methotrexate for psoriasis? I went to see the dermatologist today and this is an option I may take. It is a bit worrying when you google it. She said I would have my bloods monitored while on it and if anything showed up could come off it immediately.
If you have been on it - what were the side effects and did it actually get your psoriasis under control? I have it all over my body and am completetly fed up. Previously have had light therapy with reasonable success but it came back pretty fast. Also the doctor noticed that my lower leg is showing some skin thinning from use of ointment with steroids in.

I have to go out for a couple of hours but will check this thread on my return.

I think you're right - I'm going to have to go back soon and ask.

I took it for RA (only off for ttc/pregnancy - will be back on after). They are so careful with the monitoring, I had a "bad" liver result and they reduced it carefully until things got back to normal. Bad was still only 10% of the way to any actual damage though, so no permanent problems. After the first year, it had settled down completely and to be honest I drank similarly to my university peers without any problems. When my white blood cells dropped a wee bit they started me on some milder drugs alongside a lower level of MTX, and honestly - you would not have been able to tell I was any different from a healthy person, in terms of both illness and side effects. I have never had the medical profession treat me more carefully than when I started MTX, there is no way they would let the side effects get out of control. Good luck.
