Tension Headaches - could these be linked to pre-menopause?

My SIL is 49, but still has regular periods. However in the last few months she has been having the most dreadful headaches - she has to lie down for hours, and even the strongest painkillers don't touch them. She has seen the doctor and Menopause nurse(?) at her surgery and they keep fobbing her off saying there is nothing they can do - which I think is rubbish, there must be something causing them.

SIL really needs help as her life is becoming unbearable. Anyone any ideas? Any herbal/vits/homeopathic stuff that might help her?
Thank you

If they're tension headaches she could try Syndol. They're not herbal but work a treat. I used to have to go to bed if I got one, but since I discovered Syndol I can get rid of the headache in 20 minutes.
