3 kids all started with sneezes, sore throats and coughs at the end of last week. 7 yr old - touch wood - seems to have got over it; yr old still got bad cough but 6 yr old doesn't seem able to shake it off. he's up and down personality wise but seems to suddenly get very tired. is this a virus or do i have to drag them all to the doc's surgery amid all the other bugs going around?!
5 yr old daughter seems to be continuously on the loo at the moment aswell-for weeing and poohing! should i be concerned? looked at one of her poohs-sorry to be vulgar!-and it was all bitty! anyone any advice?

We all had it and to be honest its been a bit of a b*ger to shift, quite lingering. Ds still has a dodgy bottom! Just lots and lots of fluids, paracetamol and rest (plus some fresh air).

Hope you're all brighter soon.

DD with cough and cold at the mo and I just got rid of a cold that I had for a month. I think I may now be getting her cough. I give medication to the kids as I don't want them to suffer, however I never take anything myself. Firstly I would never remember to take it and secondly would rather just let nature take its course. I hope you and all your children will be ok for christmas and my dd too.

Well they are all different, these viruses, but dd, ds3 and I have just had something and it was very mild. Dd was basically fine in the day but coughing all night with a dry cough, ds3 got croup but very mildly and still has a bit of a runny nose, but that is all, and I had the dry cough and a bit of a cold which lasted from Saturday to yesterday - 3 days in all.

But sounds like your virus is a bit worse.

seems like quite a lot of variation in these bugs then? not sure what to do. hubbie says leave it but of course we're coming up to christmas aren't we....?! no drop in centres near us unfortunately---bloody nuisance really. would be great if there was always somewhere on hand that you could go at any time wouldn't it? not that u want your kids to be poorly but at least you know you've got somewhere to take them if you need to!

MEDISED yourself up - I have turned into a Medised pusher since I discovered it, it dries up the cold.

Cutekids, the other thing I have noticed over the years is that the kids of infant school age seems to get so run down in the autumn term. My ds2 used to be like a limp tea towel by the end of term, until he got to Year 2. My dd (who is in Year 1) got really run down and ill a couple of times before half term but isn't too bad now. Perhaps your kids will pick up now that term has finished and they can have some lazier days at home.

ISawFrannyandZooeyKissingSanta · 20/12/2005 21:24

I use it for ds, but a friend used it for himself, said it worked wonders, honest.

bsg · 20/12/2005 21:43

I have been using medised for the past two days on dd and has had no affect unfortunately. It says that it is for cold and flu syptoms aswell as fever, however her cold has got worse. She is now on some cough medicine from the chemist, vaseline around her nose as it is getting sore, calrub on her chest as she is blocked up and medised again as her temperature is rising.
