DD is very small for her age due to her genetic condition
she is 3 was 12 kgs last month and is 88 cms tall
this was ok
Since being ill all this month, tonsilitis, tummy bug and now viral pneumonia she has lst 1kg and i still off ehr food.
The GP is very worred although dd is a lot better and eating toast and drinking a little milk etc
I'm loathe to feed her lots of dairy as it is so mucous forming and she has sucha bad chest at the moment
What can do?
They GP wants to see if I can get 200gms back on her over the weekend otherwise its serious supplementation.
What can I feed her, shes still on antibiotics too...

Epiffany, my dd is a dot as well . I got the whole obsessive weight thing when she was a baby because of her then heart condition. Why does your GP insist on 200g over the weekend? It sounds a bit arbitrary to me. But I am just sceptical about anything to do with weight gain because ... the body takes what it needs and every body has different needs (to h_ll with weight charts). You are not starving dd. She has been ill and is still on antibiotics (poor thing), which can cause diarhhea. From experience, yes, their weight drops dramatically but once she is better, she will start eating for England!

Sorry I am not very helpful. It is distressing but just wanted to say that the GP is not an expert. And I have seen dieticians and paediatricians and even they don't have all the answers. Your dd is your best gauge and she seems to be taking on more food. So I am sure she is now on the upswing and will be on her feet very soon.

It's a myth that milk is mucus-forming actually. Your poor little dd, it's awful when they are ill. Biscuits, nesquik, chocolate?

My dss are also poor eaters and on the small side. Even when they're ill I still try to tank them up on milk and yogurts. I had also heard about the mucus forming from dairy products but thought that was less of an evil than a drop in weight, but mine never had a bad chest and if that was the case I probably would be the same as you.

Would dd have peanut butter or humous on her toast, they are quite high in calories, or a banana? For extra calories I try to give these guys nuts and oily food like chips. Dh even thinks we should give doughnuts but I'm not keen. I hope she feels better soon, it's heartbreaking when they're ill. Good Luck.
