What do you eat if you're poorly and not hungry?

I know I need to eat a bit of something, but I'm not hungry. Apart from anything else I cough every time I try to eat (or talk, or walk, or do housework).

Any suggestions of something tempting, and nutritious?

doormat · 13/12/2005 11:25

porridge for slow release carbs for energy through the day

acnebride · 13/12/2005 11:26

noodles

toasted cheese

moondog · 13/12/2005 11:27

Don't eat.
It won't do you any harm.

If you're up to it though, soup or toast can always perk you up.

LIZS · 13/12/2005 11:28

Feeling the same. I've had cough for over 3 weeks and just as that seemed to be lessening had a killer migraine/bug yesterday and threw up twice. Thinking of pasta or jacket potato for lunch even though not really hungry.

If you've got a juicer, juice up a load of fruit and veg? Mind you, the colour might be a bit offputting if you're not feeling well, but think of all the vitamins...

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 11:33

Don't eat.

If your body says "no food", it knows what it's doing.

Janh · 13/12/2005 11:36

Innocent smoothies? (I was going to say fruit juice but maybe too acid). Or ice cream? Something that just slips down.

harpsiheraldangelssing · 13/12/2005 11:37

Heinz tomato soup
nesquick
rice pudding

Easy · 13/12/2005 11:37

I've just hit on the idea of rice pudding. I might go for that

Scrambled egg used to be my favourite when poorly as a child. Or soup.

Earlybird · 13/12/2005 11:40

Second the idea of scrambled egg. I used to also like to eat rice, or chicken soup.

Easy, you sound so ill. Have you been to a doctor?

littledonkeyrach · 13/12/2005 11:44

Def Heinz tomato soup.
Thick white toast and butter.

Easy · 13/12/2005 11:50

Yes earlybird, I went yesterday, but they can't do anything about a cough. I'm living on strepsils with anaesthetic and cups of tea ATM. I'm okay if I just sit at the computer, but cough everytime I move about or lie down.

So I'm chatting on here all day I guess.

Soup with white sliced bread, toasted. Not fancy bread, it has to be supermarket special!

Crisps, s & v do the trick for me.

Box of chocs open on coffee table.

Quilt.

Sofa.

Lie down and do not move.

PS this is only any good if no children are around.

xx

chicken soup, always makes you feel better. Although sometimes I'll just have a honey and fresh lemon drink which seems to work.

triceroastingonanopenfire · 13/12/2005 11:57

complan and lucozade

Easy · 13/12/2005 11:58

Looks like I need to go out to get some honey anyway.
I can take it easy until ds comes home from school at least.
