How long can a sickness and diarrhoea bug last for?

Saturday my stomach felt weird and I never ate, Sunday it felt same, then yesterday I had diarrhoea, today just the belly pains. My ds also had diarrhoea yesterday, but is better now his was over in 24 hrs, possible for mine to last longer. I do tend to panic a little when ill and worry that I have something more serious than I have. Any advice any one out there can put my mind a rest.

my ds had a tummy bug for over 3 weeks! Just eat light foods and no milk or anything like that, plenty of water.

I find that sometimes you feel ill cos you haven't eatne anything?

could be related to anxiety...my irritable bowel flares up badly when i am anxious.

Are you a worrier like me...christmas and all that????

I was first diagnosed after an episode that lasted 2 weeks....and i thought i had a tummy bug.

There are other symptoms....ask if you want!!!

I get a nauseus feeling too...

PEPPERMINT oil capsules are great.

Sympathies I had it for over a week and then it took a week more to get anywhere close to back to normal eating and toilet wise. Lots of clear fluids including Dioralyte, probiotics help reduce the length of the bout(Boots sell tablets and they are in yoghurt drinks etc) and light, easy to digest foods. There is something you can take for the cramping - Buscopan ? - which I've seen on the shelves in Waitrose so should be easy to get.

Most of these things clear up on their own after a few days but if you get mucous or blood in your poo you should see the dr in case it is more than a regular viral thing. Hope you feel better soon. Chances are if your ds recovered so quickly then you should be ok soon.

Thanks all for your advice. I will be drinking plenty of water and light food.
