Upset tummy for 2 1/2 weeks in 2 year old, any ideas?

My two year old nephew has had an upset tummy and tummy pains for over two weeks, he's been to see the doctor and they advised no dairy, but that doesn't seem to be helping yet (dairy free for 6 days). My sister will take him back to the doctor, but I said I'd post on here to see if anyone had any suggestions. Most of the time he's ok in himself, although he does have bad cramps sometimes, he's generally eating well too. He hasn't had a temperature. He has also been chewing things and dribbling like he's teething but he's got all of his baby teeth. Anyone recommend anything?

Diarhoea - sorry I can't spell either. Are probiotics ok for a two year old, where would she get them and how does she give them?

They are fine from birth (they are in breastmilk). You get them from a health food shop, best ones are in powder form and you mix them into a little cold food (pureed fruit is good). They are expensive but worth it.

They are also found in yoghurt, but not concentrated enough, and besides he is avoiding dairy.
