My crazy husband Tom and his helicopter pilot colleague Neil are out in Jordan this week.

They plan to complete 8 marathons in just 6 days.

200 miles.

In the Wadi desert.

In 40 degree heat.

For charity.

The London Air Ambulance (HEMS - Helicopter Emergency Service) provides life saving support across the London/M25 region.

If you or a friend have a heart attack, a road traffic accident, a serious fall or are shot or stabbed, it is HEMS who will be called to save you - day or night.

Hit by a train? It's HEMS who climb under and save you.

Baby falls from a window? HEMS again.

Some of the pre-eminent trauma surgeons in the world train with and work for HEMS and it is astonishing that the service receives no funding from the NHS and is instead run solely by donations.

Hence the charity.
Hence the run.
Hence why they need your help.
