is a low temperature anything to worry about?

Dd has had croup this week and has been to A and E after a scary coughing/can't breathe episode. She had a temp of 39.7 and we've been treating her with calpol and neurofen. She is a lot better today but i took her temp an hour ago (whilst she was asleep) and it was 34.9! Is this hypothermic? She isn't cold, just clammy, should I be worried/take action?

Don't know gengis, but worth giving NHS Direct a call just to check since you had that episode earlier in the week. Maybe just check your thermometer is accurate, too!

I'm not too sure and i think it's a good idea to ring nhs direct but in past experience my boys have had lower than their normal temperatures after being ill with high temps, it's always happened when they are recovering from something so it might be a good sign.

Thanks for quick response dolally - I called nhs direct who said they would usually send an ambulance for anyone with a temp so low but as she wasn't displaying any other symptoms they put me through to a doctor. After speaking to the doc he thought our thermometer may be playing up (I'm not convinced) but I instinctively felt that she was ok and went to bed for another sleepless night.
