Nativity disaster looming. What to do?

DS (3.5) has just woken up after a bad dream. He's very hot (clearly has temperature) and has that ill smell.

Tomorrow is his pre-school nativity play. He's a shepherd and has been looking foward to it and practising all the songs.

Would you take him in tomorrow?

I honestly believe that when you're ill,going to do something can perk you up a bit.
Nothing worse than festering indoors. Change of scene will do him good.

Dose him up with Nurofen or Calpol. Hope he's OK.

Awwww. It's my ds1's first nativity play next week. He is going to be a king (or `present-giver', so he tells me ).

He probably picked up whatever it is FROM nursery!

Two of the girls in my DS's reception class missed their concert yesterday as they had scarlet fever last week. Not contagious any more AFAIK but the school wouldn't let them back anyway.

I know he will just stand there looking as though he has just landed from another planet!! But who cares!

dose him up today and see how he is tomorrow .. if he's the same, no I wouldn't take him it sounds unfair and selfish tbh

it wasn't the temp but 'that ill smell' that clinched it .. you only get the smell when they're feeling particularly rotten, don't you?

If he feels up to it, Id take him and feign ignorance when all the other kids go down with the bug (unless its a vomiting one, you dont want to risk an onstage vomit)

If he really is ill, he probably wont feel up to it anyway.

Sorry if that puts me into MN outer darkness.

Just back from the nativity play. Ds was the best shpherd I've ever seen (or course ) and no sign of illness.

I'm stuck at home with one exactly like that - he woke up about 3am screaming, trembling, obviously had a bad dream, boiling hot. He's only 23 months, so couldn't get much out of him except 'Cat - no thank you'. He woke a couple more times, but was much easier to calm down. Still very hot this morning, so he didn't go to nursery, and I haven't gone to work. However, he seems much better now, and is currently having a nap (famous last words...). Just a little bit clingy, but provided he stays like this or improves, I think I'll be happy to let him go back to nursery tomorrow.
