The Little Demon is ill!

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 07/12/2005 15:22

Been ill for 2 days now. Only eats yoghurts and compots, is very sleepy, nose very snotty, cough, clingy and whingey. What can I do to help him get better? Please remember that we live in France and so cannot go and buy multivitamins from Superdrug!

He's fallen asleep again (God help us tonight!) and has hardly eaten today. I am supposed to be at work tomorrow, already had to take the day off on Monday because dd was ill and he was obviously coming down with something. Just want to help the little blighter now!

Oh poor TLD! Sadly, not sure there is much you can do except administer Calpol, give him fluids, keep him warm etc. My LD has just been poorly too.

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 07/12/2005 15:30

But he looks so pathetic! His face is all red and smeared with snot, his eyes are tired, he just keeps snuggling up to me. I don't know whether to let him sleep or try to keep him awake so that he sleeps tonight!

Cliff's got kids?

hope he's soon running rings round you again!

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 07/12/2005 15:32

If you're going to the meet-up then I would be very careful what you say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I meant 'Cliff' as in 'Richards' (has he got kids? - I mean I know he hasn't!)

it meant to be funny but I can see now how you thought I meant 'Cliff' as in Rhubarb.

There's no way I'd make a comment like that - sorry Rhuby

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 07/12/2005 20:30

I knooooow what you meant! lol! Are you calling me stupid now an' all? Are you then???

He got worse this aft, very lethargic, temperature, etc. Dh is off with him tomorrow so he's taking him to the docs first thing.

[sigh of relief]

well I hope he's ok!

Elibean · 07/12/2005 20:57

Poor little DS....DD in similar state, though somewhat better tonight. If its any consolation, I've ahd the same dilemma about sleep but she's sleeping for England since she got sick: long naps, early bedtimes, sleeping in. At least, on the nights she hasn't been awake coughing! Hope he's better soon. xx
ps at least in France the compotes are yummy..

Janh · 07/12/2005 21:01

Oh dear, rhuby, poor little boy - not sure what you can do except dose him up with Calpol or equivalent - have you got kiddy ibuprofen too? (You know you can give both at once and it is great for bugs that resist just Calpol?) Also give him fruit juice maybe? (Vitamin C)

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 07/12/2005 21:11

Been giving him whatever he will eat atm. Dosing him with Junior Disprol, haven't got any Ibuprofen. Hoping he will be better tomorrow. He went off to bed ok, was very sleepy. At least he's cuddly! He cried at intervals last night, didn't really know what to do for the best, but he settled at about 1am.

ps have you got a French equivalent to Medised? I'm sure there is one, my brother and French SIL have mentioned it...let me know if you want me to find out names of products or suchlike (half French, lots of family out there).

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 07/12/2005 21:17

Never heard of Medised, what's that then?

OP posts:
CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 07/12/2005 21:18

The French have everything in suppositries!

OP posts:
Elibean · 07/12/2005 21:22

Medised is basically paracetamol and antihistamine: the antiH dries up secretions a bit and makes them slightly sleepy (billed as 'aiding a restful night's sleep' - doesn't say who for!!). Good for streaming noses which in turn cause coughs.

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 07/12/2005 21:24

Ta, will tell dh to get that tomorrow then!

Rang brother to find out name of French version, he didn't remember it and he's in London just now....sorry. But if DH describes it, the pharmacy should be able to help! Hope you have an ok night.

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 07/12/2005 21:38

Thanks very much! He said that if TLD is no better tomorrow he will ask doctor for it on prescription.

LOL! When i saw the title of this thread i thought to my self..."how do they know that my ds is ill?"
You see i thought that i was the only one in the whole world who has a demon child!

sansouci · 07/12/2005 21:52

LOL at little demon. Could be said of mine! France has no shortage of pharmacies (illuminated green crosses every 10 metres ) & Switzerland is not far behind. We are near the border (Divonne-Les-Bains), btw. I use Aspégic Baby, which is often prescribed in France, Dafalgan 150mg and lots of that saline solution in a spray. It's not pleasant but it works very, very well to clear the nose & sinuses & to prevent infection of said sinuses. Bon courage!

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 08/12/2005 08:36

Hi! Got the spray thing, he hates it! He's a little better this morning, had to get him up once in the night. He's just got a nasty cough now that hardly lets him get his breath!

Think he'll be much better tomorrow. Thanks everyone!
