posted earlier about both my boys being ill. ds1 is on antibiotics because he had a temperature and a cough, started them on monday. i am worried because he still has a raised temperature and isn't eating even tho he seems fairly o.k in himself.

He tells me now that his shoulder and the lower part of his chest hurts.
he's never ill for more than a day or 2, should i take him back to the doctor?, he hasn't been right since Friday night.

Yep, go back to docs. Better to get peace of mind now.

festiveface · 07/12/2005 15:37

why would his shoulder hurt though? seems to be low down just one side of his chest really.
ds1 always has to be odd lol

Go to the docs now! Really, I would.

HaveaMerryChristmas · 07/12/2005 15:42

Yes stop arguing about it and book an appt. !

festiveface · 07/12/2005 15:58

I'm not arguing honest
it's just that our doctors surgery is crappy and i try to avoid it.

on furthur questioning ds says it's from his shoulder about 6 inches down from there, the pain, and it's more his stomach than chest.

could it just be from coughing so much?
please don't shout
tell me what you think

Could well be just from coughing....

Is he chronically tired? - my dh was when he had pneumonia (came home from work very early and went straight to be at 17.00 - that's when I knew something was wrong)

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 07/12/2005 16:00

Go to the doctors.

DS1 had what appeared to be pain in his stomach and it turned out to be pneumonia. And he hadn't even had a chest infection to begin with!

HaveaMerryChristmas · 07/12/2005 16:00

straight to bed

PeachyPlumFairy · 07/12/2005 16:01

Have you tried NHS direct, phoneline or website?

festiveface · 07/12/2005 16:16

doesntchristmasdragon was it a bad pain with your son? He's sat reading a book now,so thinking it can't be too bad...can it?

Is he chronically tired?

festiveface · 07/12/2005 16:21

he has been less energetic than usual, but still going to bed at the normal time. not slept during the day or anything. doesn't seem upset or overly miserable either.

He was lethargic and hot. It progressed into a much higher temperature over 48 hours and the pain progressed to the point where they thought it was appendicitis. However, during this time he perked up considerably when dosed with Calpol/Ibuprofen so it was clearly possibly to mask the symptoms.

HaveaMerryChristmas · 07/12/2005 16:25

Ok - consider yourself told.

Doctors appointment it is then - by general consensus

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 07/12/2005 16:25

And I'd like to stress that this was without having had any signs of anything chesty at all. We never for one moment thought there was a problem with his lungs.

Of course, your DS might just have pulled something coughing or simply be struggling to shake the cough.

festiveface · 07/12/2005 16:28

o.k thanx ever so much all
