I've jsut realised we got bed bugs. I think we must have brought them back from spain as its since then that ds has been coming up in occassional rashes, but since we moved the problem has suddenly spread and gotten much worse. Any experiences/advice?

WE ran out of spray last night so I was killign the buggers with my lavander pillow spray. . It worked anyway!
council called today. They don't seem convinced it is bed bugs, but I am and all the signs are there. They want be to try to capture one. Eurgh! There enoguh of dead ones around, surely they can identify from one of those? Anyway, they comign tuesday morning and I've got a load of stuff to do beforehand, but hopefully we can keep the beds. THe bad news is that it going to take three treatments and so cost me a fortune, but I don't care if it gets rid of them and not the beds.

Mil and fil had an infestion of bed bugs in their house after staying in a hotel.
One of the tips our council gave them was to put stuff they couldn't wash into the freezer for a while to kill the bugs.

Thanks for the tip, I might try that. I have a calvin klein bedspread with no washing instructions so might try that rather than risk boiling it.

wrap the bedding in tight plastic bags in the freezer, if you can; this was advice for an old teddy of mine, to get rid of any crawlies in it.

to top it all off, my parents have decided not to come tomorrow in case they take it home, which of course they wouldn't. They waited until jsut now to tell me, after I've been rushing around gettign food in for them, even though my mother is incredibly rude and won't eat at mine. (too much foreign food - she wont even anything spicier than a salad leaf, but at elast I can bloody cook!) they only come thre/four times a year because they live all of 200 miles away and have the dog and gym to think about first. So the kids aren't getign to see their grandparents and won't be gettign their presents from them. I am so pissed off with my parents. They are self centered at he best of times, but this takes the biscuit.

This week can't get any worse, ds has been referred for probable special needs, the school won't let me in to see dd's play, fallen out with parents and we got bed bugs. Letws hope the weekend is better.

sorry you're having such a shitty week kelly

dp had an infestation of bed bugs in his flat last year - env health came round and sprayed, but to be on the safe side he threw out the carpet and mattress in the affected room. Lavender definitely works as a deterrent. Horrible things aren't they? >
