dd3 isnt well. very grumpy, fever, snotty nose, very lethargic. medised hasnt taken her temp down, have just given her baby neurofen. she is just in her nappy atm.

I think you should try sponging her down or put her in a tepid bath if the temp doesn't start getting better soon.

DS2 had a fever of 103.7 on Sunday night - I was on my way to A&E but the paediatrician suggested over the phone that we should try the bath before going to hospital in the middle of the night. It worked well - although he wasn't particularly charmed.

Make sure she gets regular fluid - just a few sips every 20 mins is enough.

Hope she gets better soon.

have done. her face is now all flushed.

Has the nurofen helped yet, Misdee? DD had a high temp last week, and I had to use both (calpol plus nurofen) to get it down - it took about twenty minutes. Hope either that or the sponging are working, but if not - I'd play safe and call the doctor/go to A&E. Especially if she's lethargic.

Hope DD is OK Misdee

Good. Keep up with the sponging. My niece was poorly Sunday night and wont take any medicine, they ended up taking her to A&E in the end but whilst they were there the sponging worked great.

Elibean · 06/12/2005 21:38

Good that she's cooler (and playing) - phew. Its so scary when the temps shoot up and up. Wishing her ongoingly weller, xx

Sponge her down with lukewarm water every now and then.

misdee · 06/12/2005 21:44

she is asleep now. you would think after 3 kids i'd know when to worry lol. her temp just shot up and it wouldnt come down, the neurofen did it tho (i cant use neurofen with dd1 because she is asthmatic, so it hardly gets used). she has just had a feed as well.

no need to panic you really only need to be concerned if it starts going over 40 (104) .. and even then not unduly ... or you just cannot get it down with paracetomal and ibuprofen

misdee · 06/12/2005 21:45

cheers twiglett, the kds manaed t change the thermonitor so it reads in F rather than c and i cant change it back. if it had 39, i wouldnt have paniced at all, its just the 2 figure numbers scare me lol.
