Where have my periods gone?!

dd is 18 months old today and I STILL have no periods. I am still breastfeeding but at only about the same rate I did with ds and I got my periods back then when he was 13 months. dd co-sleeps and does latch on during the night but often when we get up it can run into late afternoon before she has another feed.

Does it take longer for periods to come back with a 2nd baby? Should I be worried? I have had no problems with fertility before. Got pregnant with ds 2 months after coming off the pill. dd was a one-off accident and we'd not been consciously trying. I don't want to get pregnant just now but don't like the thought that I could be infertile for some reason. I am worrying about early menopause but don't you get symptoms with that? I am 38 BTW. Is there any way I could determine my fertility without the obvious signs of a period? Any point in going to my GP - I can't see what she can do for me?

Thanks.

Can't be much help I'm afraid, but I'd been thinking along the same lines as you although ds is only 10 months. With dd periods came back at 6 months although I continued to bf til a year (but had introduced formula by then) Ds is also bf and takes no formula. He also co-sleeps and feeds during the night but not a lot by day.
I have all the same questions as you, so hope someone can enlighten us!

Just because you have no periods does not mean that you can't get pregnant, take it from an experienced voice! Are you definately sure that you are not pregnant,if not they will probably just come back when your body is ready

mine didn't return until about 6 weeks after I stopped bfing, even though at the end I was only doing 1 bf a day, it was still 6 or 7 weeks before my periods returned.People's bodies are so different !

I know all about lactational amenorrhea Philly - definately not pregnant. Just wondered if anyone could give me some advice to look for clues of fertility but maybe not...
