Has anyone had a pain inside their vagina when sitting down? cos I am really worried

I have got a pain inside my vagina that is there when I sit on a hard chair or in certain position. sometimes when lying down. I have had it for 2 months off and on. I finished AF yesterday and when I took tampon out pain started again. I haven't had sex for 3 months {and not put anything else in like rabbit iyswim} I am overdue for my smear but am going next monday. I am very fat. gave birth 10 years ago. Don't have any weird bleeding or smells or discharge. I have PCOS so AF comes and goes irregularly.

Please does anybody have any experience of this?

Or any ideas what it could be, please

TIA

No experience but just to say you are doing the right thing having your smear so soon and be sure to mention the pain.

Iamtooembaressed · 02/12/2005 12:53

Thanks I am so scared that it might be cervical cancer but the pain imho is lower than that but can't find anything else it could be

The last smear I had the nurse said I was fat in my vagina and my cervix was a long way up and so they have always had to use the longer spectulum

Well, the lack of weird bleeding and discharge should be a good sign so try not to think about it too much over the weekend. Good luck for Monday.

Iamtooembaressed · 02/12/2005 13:02

Thanks, I asked if I could go today but have to wait for drop in clinic on monday evening at family planning clinic, cos don't want it done at drs surgery with the nurses there.

hi no help really as only times I have had this is when I have been pregnant. Think you need to go and see gp.

Iamtooembaressed · 02/12/2005 17:20

Yes, but don't like my GP - he always has a go at me for being fat. So that is why I am going to the family planning centre

Iamtooembaressed · 02/12/2005 17:20

Thanks for answering though

IATE your gp is crap then ..I am very overweight and but luckily gp I am with now has never mentioned it as a problem however my last one alwyas used to and if I complained of anythign would say I should loose weight or have a breast reduction etc...
Hope you get some answers soon.

Iamtooembaressed · 02/12/2005 17:48

Thanks yes the GP blames everything on weight and me being fat, the nurse at the surgery said my vagina was fat too which is very strange, imho Thanks for answering me

Silly question time but are you constipated? That can sometimes cause vaginal pain.

Iamtooembaressed · 02/12/2005 17:56

No not either constipated or diarrhoea or any change there, cos DH said it may be piles in bottom when I first said about pain and it is really in vagina not bottom. Cos when I took tampon out yesterday no pain while it was there and then after I took it out - pain.

True, WWB, I've had that. Also, don't laugh (too hard), but once 'lost' a tampon and didn't realize it (how??? who knows, I was young, stressed, absent minded) and that caused pain eventually. Also note you feel the pain when you sit down, which makes me wonder if it could possibly be some sort of prolapse? You know, I'm afraid you will have to go to the GP or a FPC with this one in the end....but try not to worry too much about it being something really nasty, no bleeding/discharge is good news I think. Good luck!

Elibean · 02/12/2005 17:58

X post....but also think the tampon bit would make sense with a prolapse.

Iamtooembaressed · 02/12/2005 18:02

Crumbs what happens with a prolase - apart from something falling down into vagina - what do they do about it?

BTW No difference with weeing either

Sorry i am not much help but i remember reading a thread on here about someone who had a prolapse i think you have to have an operation to put it right, please dont panic though & i am glad you are trying to get it seen too.

Have you not got any other gp's at your surgery that you can see??

Iamtooembaressed · 02/12/2005 18:29

I have just been reading some other threads I think that is what it is I have got I will go to the FPC on monday evening and have a smear and they will tell me then. The some of the other Drs I like but not the 2 women ones, one of them does internals with you on your side with a leg up on the wall - they were trying to fir an IUD years ago - which has been out for years btw,

Didn't want to panic you, hope I haven't....glad youre' going on Monday, though. My sister had a prolapse, and it was put right years ago - no problems since. So did my Mum, ditto. They're a pain (literally) in the back side, but very common and you don't always need an op to fix them - let us know how you get on! xxC

I have had pain in my vagina for about 3 years and have an appointment with the gynae doc on the 23rd. Had an ultrasound and nothing untoward showed up. It may be bowel related which my gp suggested

dobbin · 02/12/2005 22:12

Sorry, IATE, nothing helpful to add but I would like to say your nurse sounds like she was really mean at your last smear. I'm cross on your behalf - her comments were unecessary and as far as i know complete garbage. You're very brave to have kept going and I hope there is a simple answer that can stop the pain.
